Moon Musings: How the New Moon in Virgo (August 30, 2019) Will Affect Your Zodiac Sign

Posted by Valerie Mesa on

There’s an electric new moon in meticulous Virgo headed our way, as it will withdraw into the night sky on Friday, Aug. 30, renewing our inner world, while blessing us with a clean slate from the heavens. As you know, the new moon phase represents the beginning of a lunar cycle. This occurs when Mother moon sits between the earth and Father sun, and the sun sheds its light on the dark side of the moon, which is the side we never get to see. This is precisely why the moon becomes invisible — as seen from earth — during the new moon phase. Although, aside from the celestial logistics of it all, the new moon phase takes place when both the sun and the moon are in the same zodiac sign which, in turn, provides us with a cosmic boost — and a more energetically concentrated version — of this particular zodiac sign. Imagine, both the sun and the moon are a representation of our conscious and unconscious selves, and with both of these ever-glowing luminaries traveling through a mutable earth sign like Virgo, there’s really no denying the amount of strength and fertility stemming from this Mercury-ruled lunation.

Please don’t feel pressured to create an altar, set intentions and/or practice a manifestation ritual. The dark moon phase is a symbol of renewal, which means the majority of us will likely be feeling introverted and/or more tired than usual. Be gentle with yourself. The moon is renewing itself and so is your emotional body. However, despite the eerie silence of this particular lunar phase, it is an excellent time to clear your mind and hit the reset button, literally and figuratively. Now, for those of you interested in harnessing the energy of this lunation, make sure to avoid negative and/or stressful environments. Creating a sacred space for yourself is essential to your powers of manifestation. Something else to do during the new moon phase — and very Virgoan nonetheless — is to declutter your home. Tidying up your living space, in order to create enough room for your spirit to grow and wander, is key during this time. After all, this is your chance to start again and welcome the new beginnings that go hand-in-hand with the zodiac archetype of this new moon. Don’t rush the process. The intentions you set now can see full moon during the full moon in Virgo in March 2020.

What can I say? Leo season is over and it’s back to business as usual. Think about it: School’s out for the summer (Leo) and it’s back to school (Virgo) in the Fall, right? Well, that goes to show how each of the zodiac archetypes reflect onto our everyday lives. Now, in the case of Mercury-ruled Virgo, a physical representation of the mind and body, this astrological season is about being of service. Truth is, it is Virgo's innate divine duty to serve the people around them. Virgo's planetary ruler, Mercury, governs the mind and the hands, which is why Virgos are naturally hands-on. Sitting opposite of dreamy Pisces, this mutable earth sign is a representation of the soul's greatest mission after it's been fully integrated with your day-to-day routine. So, how can you use your mind, body, and soul for the greater good? Sounds complex but the truth is right before your eyes. The essence of meticulous Virgo is all about crossing your t's and dotting your i's. This is a time to polish your craft and critique your surroundings. However, there's a big difference between genuinely critiquing something in hopes of making it better and being overly critical.

It’s important to be extra mindful of the way you’re going about this intricate season. In fact, go ahead and put your analytical thinking caps on while you’re at it. It is Virgo season after all, right? Besides, the precision of a Virgo is a magnificent thing and trust me, we can all benefit from it. Think about it: Without a productive day-to-day schedule — in which you can exercise your due diligence both responsibly and practically — there's no way you're in the right mindset to create the stability you crave. So make sure to keep that in mind during this new moon. In harmony with both rebellious Uranus and the Pluto-Saturn-South Node conjunction in Capricorn, there is nothing subtle about this lunation. This Grand Earth Trine is abundant, dependable and revolutionary. In fact, I dare to say this kick start of earthy goodness is paving the way for us before the highly anticipated Jupiter-Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January 2020. So if there’s something in your life that needs organizing and/or polishing in order for you to create a solid foundation for yourself, the time is now. Sitting alongside the sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars, this new moon’s chakras are wide open.

The sun energizes; Mercury analyzes; Venus gives it value and Mars dominates. And in Virgo, these heavenly bodies express themselves practically, meticulously and with great detail. What area of your life needs the most work? How can you perfect your craft? Time is precious — don’t waste it.
