Moon Musings: How The Full Moon in Libra (Apr. 16th) Will Affect Your Zodiac Sign

We are spiritual beings living a human experience, and though surrendering to the ebb and flow of our everyday lives (not to mention the emotional highs and lows that come along with it) is always easier said than done, the one thing we can always look forward to is change. Whether you look at it in terms of astrology or the multifaceted nature of Mother Earth, the cycle of death and rebirth can be equally as intense as it is liberating, but even then it is still a constant part of our journey to spirit. For reference on what I’m referring to, think back to spring 2021; Aries season (also known as Ostara) is a season of fertility, renewal, and new beginnings, but what happened after summer, fall, and the winter season came to a close? Whether you realize it or not, you have been shedding different parts of you as the years progress, and you know what the best part about this is? You are exactly where you need to be at this very moment, because you are ever-evolving.

With that being said, and in the spirit of the sun’s exaltation (energizing, invigorating) in Aries, the sky is action-packed with celestial energies, some of which are highly anticipated like Jupiter’s reunion with Neptune in Pisces on April 12, considering this is the first time both heavenly bodies meet in their sign of co-rulership since 1856. However, it is also important to note that the upcoming full moon in Libra will be followed by a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus on April 30, and a total lunar eclipse in Scorpio on May 16. That means: this is the last “regular” lunation before we are bombarded with back-to-back eclipses, but let’s cut to the chase. It’s about that time again when the moon reaches her peak of fullness, which as you may know, occurs when the sun sits directly across the moon, triggering opposition between the sacred masculine (physicality, identity, external reality) and the feminine (intuition, emotional world, subconscious mind) divine. This lunar phase is symbolic of celebration, completion, and illumination. What’s unconscious is made conscious, whether personally or collectively.

Adorning the sky at exactly 26 degrees Libra on April 16th at 2:55 p.m. EST, this Venus-ruled lunation will be making a series of astrological aspects that will naturally influence its overall effects. Although, if you’re curious on how this lunation will personally affect you, take a moment to reflect on the new moon in Libra that took place on Oct. 6, 2021. First, where is Libra located on your birth chart and second, how have your personal and professional partnerships evolved since? This will be a full circle moment for this cardinal air sign, as well as the role it plays in our individual birth charts. Please note: with the sun in Aries, there is greater emphasis on themes surrounding our autonomy, individuality, and personal desires, which completely contradicts the essence of Libra as it prefers to look at things objectively in order to obtain balance, and justice. So, despite whether it’s a romantic, platonic, or professional relationship being highlighted, something’s gotta give and “the what” is being brought to your conscious mind.

If the relationship/collaboration theme doesn’t ring a bell, then this can also speak to the justice — or lack thereof— of a particular situation, or something as simple as finding the balance within yourself. Moreover, the full moon will make a powerful square — just two degrees apart — to transformative Pluto in Capricorn, which again speaks to matters surrounding systems, institutions, and our professional lives. More importantly, however, the influence of this polarizing planet is here to do one thing, and that’s to help us find and embody our power. Now, the dark side of this square is the pressure it may apply on our lives, as it will simultaneously trigger a much-needed change in the process. Maybe it’s a power struggle or a battle of wills in a significant partnership; whatever the case may be, Pluto’s influence will trigger the change that’s needed for our soul’s growth. Although, beyond the usual transformation that comes with anything Plutonian, we are being encouraged (and more than likely challenged) to not go down the same path that led us here to begin with.

This could be anything from a job that’s become comfortable over the years that’s been keeping you stagnant, as opposed to empowering you to be the best you can be. For others of you, this could revolve around a significant relationship that you’re choosing to commit to out of pure convenience, despite the root of the matter. Sounds grim and a bit extreme, but that’s Pluto. Also, if you find yourself caught between a rock and hard place — which is very possible under this astro-weather — take some time to reflect on next steps, and give yourself the space needed to see a person, place, and/or situation with a brand-new set of eyes. Although, if an authority figure proposes something you’re not necessarily comfortable with, this is also a chance for you to stand up for what you believe in, despite the consequences. Another way to look at this is, Pluto is in Capricorn which is governed by Saturn, and Saturn is in Aquarius. If this “decision” aligns with the future you’re envisioning, then you’ll know it’s the right choice for you.

Speaking of taskmaster Saturn, the moon will harmonize with the planet of discipline, karma, and structure, which can help the decision-making process, as it will help you consider your options both personally and collectively. After all, the full moon in Libra wants everyone to be on the same page, right? Something else that’s a plus is the fact that Venus (Libra’s celestial ruler) is also in its sign of exaltation (Pisces) which is where the planet of love, beauty, abundance, harmony, and pleasure feels comfortable, and confident enough to be herself. Keep in mind, when in Pisces, Venus’ magic is turned inward, as it is compassionate, intuitive, and emotionally receptive; Venus in Pisces is also a powerful manifestor, and she does it all by staying in her “yin” energy where she is open to receiving the abundance the both craves, and deserves. The same goes for us, so don’t underestimate the potency of this Venusian transit. Besides, Venus will be a key player for us in the upcoming months, as she is also the North Node in Taurus’ celestial ruler.

Lady Venus will also harmonize with Mercury and Uranus during this lunation, which can be just as surprising as it is like music to your ears (or eyes if you receive an unexpected message of sorts). So, again, despite the pressure stemming from shadowy Pluto, just know that there is plenty of room to inquire, connect, and discuss the potential of each and every one of these opportunities. There is significant enlightenment coming forth, and some of these “novelties” will likely come back around during Taurus season.

In the meantime, read your sun and ascendant horoscope + reflection below:

Aries

There’s a difference between releasing the need to do things “your way,” and simply disregarding all of your hard work. Be it with a romantic partnership or a prominent authority figure in the workplace, it’s important to be discerning. Balance is everything, but there could be tension rising with regards to your personal vs. professional endeavors at this time. Venus (full moon ruler) is also in Pisces — your secretive twelfth house of closure, dreams, and all things hidden — while sextiling Mercury-Uranus, so you may be called to surrender and make peace with a particular lifestyle change, or a secret “comfort/coping mechanism” that isn’t serving you. Full moon reflection: How do I show up for myself and for others without losing sight of what truly matters?

Taurus

The “health” of a particular group effort or social atmosphere is being highlighted during this time. Maybe it’s a daily ritual or a routine habit that isn’t necessarily in alignment with your highest (vibe) potential, while others of you may suddenly realize a detour is much-needed in order to succeed in the realm you desire. Are you afraid to venture into the unknown? Is this what’s essentially stopping you from embarking on a journey that would ultimately benefit you in the long run? With your planetary ruler, Venus, dazzling your 11th house of community affairs, all while sextiling Mercury and Uranus in your sign, you may seem like a rebel to your people at first, but this disruption is something your soul genuinely craves. Full moon reflection: Would pleasing people require you to surrender a hope, wish, or dream?

Gemini

There’s an opportunity for you to shine, and do what you love all at the same time, but there’s something about this potential “contract” that isn’t sitting well with you. For others, taking a new professional role that emotionally fulfills you could potentially challenge the “value” of this transaction, or the rules surrounding a financial contract. And for the last few of you, contemplating whether to conceive, or birth a new project is likely, as the foundation of a particular system would then be at stake. Is this decision-making process influencing your happiness? Have you been sacrificing your emotional fulfillment for the sake of pleasing others? Venus will harmonize with your planetary ruler, Mercury, along with freedom-loving Uranus — via your subconscious twelfth house of surrender, privacy, and self-sabotage — triggering a series of epiphanies. Full moon  reflection: Are you living your life authentically and unapologetically?

Cancer

If you had the choice, without letting any of your loved ones down, how would it all look like for you? When you think about bliss, serenity, and emotional balance you genuinely long for deep down inside, do you feel like you’ve been able to incorporate this “energy” and/or belief system into your personal life? Luna will be influenced by shadowy Pluto in your seventh house of relationships, which is where connections, agreements, and commitments could start to apply more pressure, or seem as if they’re hovering all of a sudden. And with Venus (full moon’s ruler) in Pisces — via your exotic ninth house of the unknown — sextiling Mercury-Uranus, the pressure could be stemming from the enticing, profitable, and unexpected opportunities that are being presented to you. Full moon reflection: What brings you inner peace, and how can you cultivate that?

Leo

You’re often recognized for your unique charisma and unmatched leadership skills but heavy is the head that wears the crown, and even Kings and Queens know that two heads work better than one. Perhaps the logistics of a particular situation you initially agreed to seem impossible to fathom, or the financial circumstances of a significant other trigger some tension; it’s important to know that the sacrifice and/or lifestyle change you’re being called to make is for your best interest. Venus (full moon’s ruler) will sextile Mercury and Uranus via your tenth house of authority, career, and reputation. Meeting a significant other halfway (or vice versa) is needed, and it’s all for better. Full moon reflection: How can you commit to collaborate without losing your sense of direction?

Virgo

Are your personal and professional commitments built upon a foundation where there is honesty and integrity? If finances are involved, are you dependent on another, and is this the reason behind your loyalty? Despite whether you look at it in terms of your personal interests, or with regards to a particular circumstance, one thing’s for sure: you can no longer choose to unsee what you know to be true. Venus (full moon’s ruler) will sextile your planetary ruler, Mercury and Uranus, all while transiting through your relationship sector. So, if there’s an opportunity to break free from a connection that lacks value, or a financial commitment that stresses you out, Luna’s square to Pluto will likely challenge you to question the shadowy motive behind this agreement. Are you avoiding confrontation? Full moon reflection: What contracts and connections are truly worthy of your time and energy?

Libra

Your full moon-full circle moment is now loading, Libra. How have you and your one-on-one connections evolved in the past year? Your harmony-seeking planetary ruler, Venus, lives her best life in Pisces (your sixth house of health, daily rituals, and acts of service) but the real question is, do you need more help with these day-to-day duties and work tasks? If you’re consciously choosing to take full responsibility, then this is something that could come up during this time, especially if it’s affecting your sacred balance. The same goes for your relationships, as the moon will sextile Mercury-Uranus via your eighth house of shared assets, joint collaborations, and intimate unions. Full moon reflection: Do your day-to-day sacrifices benefit you & your partnership?

Scorpio

Circumstances change everything, which is why the uncertainty that comes with submitting to our desires are nothing short of intimidating. The unknown always is but like anything that’s remotely Plutonian (shadowy by nature), this lunation is challenging you to take a step back and reflect on your (conscious and unconscious) desires, both with regards to romance and general collaborations. Where have you been denying your authenticity, and/or a genuine good time? Maybe it’s a particular outlook on love and romance, or a fixed mindset that only feels confident when in control. Venus will harmonize with Mercury-Uranus in your relationship sector, potentially triggering unexpected events and conversations that change everything. Full moon reflection: How do you expect to get your point across and/or romantic needs met if you’re not being honest?

Sagittarius

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and every family unit is made up of an eclectic array of personalities… both good and bad. Granted, there’s a difference between being compassionate when it comes to everyone’s needs, but it’s another to completely allow your charm(s) to be taken for granted. Luna’s square to Pluto, however, invites you to reflect on the foundation of this decision, especially if it surrounds your comfort and/or financial stability. Maybe it pays the bills, or appeases the people you care about. Are you sacrificing *your* hopes, wishes, and dreams (sense of belonging) for the sake of this particular “comfort”? Venus will sextile Mercury-Venus triggering a series of opportunities, and unexpected surprises. Will you let them pass you by? Full moon reflection: Are you consciously surrounding yourself with individuals who value your uniqueness & accept you as you are?

Capricorn

The way you envision yourself on the world stage, and with regards to your reputation in the world is being brought to the forefront. And while in a transformative square to powerhouse Pluto in your sign, this lunation is simultaneously challenging you to reflect on the shadow side behind the drive of these endeavors. The same goes for the amount of pressure you (consciously and unconsciously) put on yourself in order to meet these ideals, dreams, and unique expectations. Anything’s possible with you in the driver’s seat, even if it doesn’t turn out exactly as planned. Also, Venus’s sextile Mercury-Uranus encourages you to be more confident when communicating about your passions, and celebrating your accomplishments. Full moon reflection: Are you omitting information and/or parts of yourself for the sake of your reputation?

Aquarius

The value behind your spiritual wisdom, belief systems, and personal philosophy is being brought to the forefront, especially those you have yet to recognize for yourself. Maybe it’s a specific outlook, or a topic of innate curiosity. Sitting in a challenging square to Pluto via your unconscious twelfth house of closure, hidden agendas, and all things behind the scenes, this lunation could apply pressure when it comes to your desire to work behind the scenes, especially if there’s an innate need for control during your usual processes. If it has something to do with your home life and sense of security, Venus’ sextile to Mercury-Uranus could bring some unexpected epiphanies via emotional exchanges. Full moon reflection: Have you been sacrificing your truth and value systems for the sake of a particular structure?

Pisces

The foundation of your intimate partnerships is under the justice-seeking rays of this full moon, but with its ruler, Venus, swimming through your mystical waters, there is a layer of romance, sensuality, and perhaps even secrecy attached to this moment of enlightenment. At odds with shadowy Pluto — via your eleventh house of associations, community affairs, and individual freedom — Luna could potentially highlight themes surrounding the darker aspects of your (or a significant other’s) collaborations and future endeavors, especially those detrimental to the connection. Venus, luckily, will harmonize with Mercury-Uranus in your communication sector, where important information may unexpectedly come to light, even if it’s intuitive at first. Full moon reflection: Are your commitments built around an equal amount of give and take?
